Odisha Vigilance apprehends Marketing Inspector on charges of taking bribe
Koraput: Mamata Behera, the Marketing Inspector of Dasmantpur Block in Koraput district has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance for demanding and taking undue advantage (bribe) today.
The Vigilance sleuths apprehended him while taking a bribe of Rs 7,000 from a complainant (Contractual staff of Block) for processing the utilization certificate and facilitating release of his monthly remuneration.
Based on the above complaint, a trap was laid on 23.12.2024, wherein the accused Marketing Inspector was trapped by the team of Odisha Vigilance in front of R.D. Office, Koraput for demanding and taking undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.7,000 from the complainant. The entire bribe money was recovered from the possession of Behera and seized in presence of witnesses.
Right hand wash of Behera gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by her. Following the trap, simultaneous searches have been launched on the rented residential house of Behera at Pujariput, Koraput, building at Srihari Nagar, Ankuli, Berhampur and her office room.
In this connection, Koraput Vigilance PS Case No.29 date 22.12.2024 U/s 7 Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered and is under investigation.
