Pangolin scales seized during raid in Odisha’s Nuapada district

Nuapada: A huge cache of pangolin scales has been seized in the Nuapada district of Odisha on Saturday. In a joint raid as many as 765 pangolin scales, weighing 3.1 kg seized while four poachers have been arrested.

As per reports, a joint raid was conducted by the Khariar Forest Department and the Chhattisgarh Udaanthi Sita River Wildlife Sanctuary Wildlife Department in Shukhamal village under the Komna Forest Range of Nuapada district in Odisha on Saturday in which the above said materials were seized while an illegal deal was underway.

A total of 765 pangolin scales weighing 3.1 kg, were seized during the raid. Four poachers have been arrested in this connection.

The four accused arrested for the illegal deal of wildlife are Kumud Hans and Santosh Hans of Sinapali area’s Gobindpur village and Narhari Gahir and Chaturbhuj Katama of Shukhamal village.

Today, the forest department filed a complaint against these four accused and they were forwarded to the court, said the Khariar Forest Division official.
