Former Secretary of Chandanpur GP Bijaya Pradhan sentenced to 3 years of rigorous imprisonment

Ganjam: Bijaya Pradhan, then former Secretary (now retired) of Chandanpur Grama Panchayat (GP) under Beguniapada Block of Ganjam district, was convicted by Special Judge, Vigilance, Berhmapur.

The court sentenced Pradhan to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of three years and imposed a fine Rs 25,000. He was charge sheeted by Odisha Vigilance in a Case U/s 13(2)r/w 13(1)(c)(d) P.C. Act.1988/409/120-B IPC for misappropriation of rice received under Sampoorna Grameen Rozgar Yojana (SGRY-I & II) and National Food For Work Programme (NFFWP) Schemes and Cement received under 11th Financial Commission.

Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for stoppage of pension of Bijaya Pradhan following his conviction.

Earlier yesterday, Subrat Kumar Behera, the former Tahasildar-cum-Sub-Registrar of Tarva in Subarnapur district at present the Tahasildar of Kodinga in Nabarangpur district was convicted and sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of three years.

The Special Judge, Vigilance, Balangir convicted and sentenced the former Tahasildar-cum-Sub-Registrar of Tarva and imposed a fine of Rs 30,000 on him. Behera was charge-sheeted by Odisha Vigilance vide Sambalpur Vigilance PS Case No.29 dt.16.11.2020 U/s 7 PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 for demanding and taking bribe of Rs.20,000 from a complainant for registration of sale deed towards sale of his land.
