World IPR Day celebrated at GITAM

Visakhapatnam: On the occasion of ‘World Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Day’, a comprehensive workshop was organized by GITAM School of Law on Monday.
The workshop had an interactive session with renowned IPR expert Bharat N Suryavanshi, who also served as the Assistant Controller of Patents and Designs at Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Intellectual Property Management, Nagpur.
Understanding the nuances of IPR, he shared his valuable insights on the importance of protecting intellectual property in today’s fast-paced global economy.
He touched upon various types of intellectual property, such as patents, designs, trademarks, copyrights, geographical indications, semiconductor layout designs, etc., drawing real life examples to show the importance of protecting intellectual properties. Addressing the concept of bundling of rights in IPRs, Dr. Bharath N. Suryavanshi also discussed how a product can be protected by more than one IPR and gave practical advice on the filing process. He encouraged the students to think innovatively and work towards patentable inventions. R Anita Rao, Director, GITAM School of Law, emphasizes the role of law schools in shaping the next generation of legal professionals equipped to navigate the complexities of the IPR landscape and also the role of women in entrepreneurship and protecting intellectual property rights Cast light on.
