Kejriwal compromised party’s initial values: Mayank Gandhi
Delhi. Former Aam Aadmi Party leader Mayank Gandhi, while speaking to a news agency, criticized Arvind Kejriwal’s promises of giving ‘rewadi’ (free stuff) before the assembly elections. He accused Arvind Kejriwal of compromising the party’s initial values. Mayank Gandhi accused Arvind Kejriwal of abandoning the party’s basic principles for political greed and power. He said, “We joined ‘AAP’ for alternative politics. None of us was a professional politician. We wanted to change the country. But Kejriwal got so immersed in the greed for power that he became worse than the parties we wanted to change. Kejriwal compromised the party’s initial values and formed an alliance with individuals he once considered corrupt. We had principles, but today, they have all been abandoned. There is only one post left in the party, only one person from one family will hold the post, this too will end soon.” Expressing disappointment, Mayank Gandhi revealed that he had quit politics in 2015 and now works with farmers. Comparing the political environment during the Emergency, he claimed that just like the public was betrayed then, the AAP has betrayed the people now.
Criticising Kejriwal’s leadership, he claimed that the AAP marginalised those with independent views within the party. Kejriwal once told me: “I don’t want people with brains in the party, just those who listen to me”. That’s why many capable people left the party.
On free election promises, he said that free things are dangerous for the country. Remember Venezuela, a country in South America. It used to be one of the developed countries, but now see where it is. Unfortunately, this trend is spreading. Speaking on Maharashtra politics, Mayank Gandhi said that there is only hunger for power here. Such politics is harmful for the country.
