Punjab: Women panel chairperson visits jail
Punjab: Punjab State Women Commission Chairperson Raj Lali Gill visited Sangrur District Jail today. She took stock of the arrangements made for women inmates and heard their problems. Gill directed police officials to involve non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and implement various social reforms in the jail. She said that the main objective of her visit was to make the future of women undertrials and convicted prisoners better. She also said that problems related to health, food and legal aid would be resolved soon. Sangrur Sub Divisional Magistrate Charanjot Singh Walia, District Jail Superintendent Navinder Singh, Superintendent of Police (SP) Palwinder Singh Cheema and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Adarshpal Singh Toor were also present on the occasion.
