Punjab: 190 kg poppy, 650 grams of opium seized, 4 arrested
Punjab: Police arrested four people with opium and poppy husk. Sri Ganganagar Superintendent of Police Gaurav Yadav said that four people have been arrested, who have 190 kg of poppy husk and 650 grams of opium. Three suspects managed to escape. A Bolero camper, a Verna car and a Swift Dzire car have been seized. Yadav said that Sub-Inspector Manjit Kaur’s team caught Kan Nath, resident of Dhirdesar and Bhajan Lal, resident of Udasar, who were travelling in a Bolero camper on National Highway 62.
The three suspects were trying to escape by breaking the police blockade in a Swift Dzire car, but the driver rammed the Bolero near Etah village and fled towards the nearby fields along with two others. Two of the three suspects were finally caught by the police, whose names are Suresh resident of Ram Nagar and Mahendra Ram resident of Shejhla Bawdi. Suresh said that he and his partner Ashok Godara had bought opium husk from Mukesh Chaudhary, resident of Hemnagar. Madhendra has identified his two other accomplices as Bhoma Ram Khudiyaala and Birma Ram Chamunda of Jodhpur. Three names identified by Suresh and Mahendra during interrogation are currently absconding. Police have registered two cases under the NDPS Act in connection with the drugs seized from the cars.
