Congress leader Shashi Tharoor expressed concern over air pollution
Delhi. Congress leader and MP from Thiruvananthapuram Shashi Tharoor has expressed concern over the dangerous air pollution. Along with this, he also expressed doubt on New Delhi being the national capital of India. Posting on X, Tharoor said that Delhi’s air is about five times worse than the world’s second most polluted city Dhaka. He described this situation as extremely worrying. Tharoor criticized the government for not solving the problem despite such conditions being created for years. He wrote, ‘Our government has been seeing this nightmare for years and nothing is being done about it.’
Shashi Tharoor also mentioned his previous efforts. He said that since 2015, he participated in a round table conference on air quality with experts, but left it last year when there was no progress. The MP said that New Delhi becomes uninhabitable for three months from November to January. It becomes very difficult to live here. He raised the question, ‘Should it also remain the capital of the country?’ Earlier also, Tharoor has taken a dig at Delhi’s poor air quality. Earlier this month, the Air Quality Index (AQI) reached 462. He shared satirical signboards on this.
The air of the capital Delhi is continuously getting polluted. In view of this, many precautionary steps have been taken. Delhi University (DU) announced to conduct online classes till November 23 and Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) till November 22. At the same time, 15 flights were diverted at Delhi airport while more than 100 flights were delayed due to low visibility in bad weather in the national capital on Monday. An official gave this information. He said that due to bad weather in Delhi, visibility decreased, due to which it affected the operation of aircraft.
