FIR lodged against Modi cabinet minister, police officer made shocking allegation

Bengaluru: Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy has been accused of threatening a police officer. A case has also been registered against him at Sanjay Nagar police station in Bengaluru for allegedly threatening a senior police officer investigating the mining case. The case was registered on Monday based on the complaint of Inspector General of Police M Chandrashekhar. The complaint alleges that Kumaraswamy threatened a government employee with the aim of preventing him from discharging his duties. ADGP Chandrashekhar IPS has lodged an FIR against HD Kumaraswamy, Nikhil Kumaraswamy and JDS MLA Suresh Babu.

The case has been registered under Section 224 of the Indian Justice Code (BNS) 2023. The complaint filed by the ADGP states that Kumaraswamy made threatening remarks against him and his family.

The officer who lodged the complaint said that he was leading the Special Investigation Team investigating the mining case, in which Kumaraswamy is an accused. The investigation against Kumaraswamy relates to allegations that he had illegally sanctioned a mining lease of 550 acres to Sri Sai Venkateswara Minerals (SSVM) in Bellary district in violation of the law during his tenure as Karnataka chief minister from 2006 to 2008.

In his complaint lodged at Sanjay Nagar police station in Bengaluru, Chandrasekhar said, “The SIT, after preparing the investigation report and finding sufficient evidence and material to prosecute the accused (Kumaraswamy), wrote a letter to His Excellency the Governor of Karnataka on 21/11/2023 seeking sanction to prosecute the accused HD Kumaraswamy.”
