CG High Court expressed displeasure over the filth in ponds after idol immersion

Bilaspur. Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha of Bilaspur High Court has expressed concern over the situation of children risking their lives by jumping into rivers and drains due to lack of cleaning after Durga idol immersion. The division bench considered it a public interest litigation and started hearing the case.

Also, the Urban Administration Secretary and Raipur Collector have been asked to submit a report with an affidavit on the cleanliness of all immersion sites. During the initial hearing of this case, Advocate General Prafulla N Bharat on behalf of the state government told the court that the Raipur Collector has issued orders to clean all immersion sites after Dussehra. Cleaning is being done in the areas under Municipal Corporation, Nagar Panchayat and Nagar Palika. An action plan has also been prepared for this.

The division bench of Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha said that idol immersion was done in ponds and rivers across the state. Now it is necessary to know what is the current situation there. Whether cleaning has been done or not. Giving the example of Kharun river in Raipur, the High Court said that, is there a similar situation of cleanliness in other districts as well.

In this case, the Secretary of the Urban Administration Department should personally submit the information along with an affidavit. Its next hearing will be on November 8. Before this, the Secretary of the Urban Administration Department will have to submit a report on the status of all immersion sites to the court.
