CM Vishnudev Sai distributed electricity kits to electricity friends

Raipur. Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai today provided electricity kits to 21 Bijli Sakhis of self-help groups of Bagicha development block at the Chief Minister’s Camp Office Bagicha. On this occasion, the Chief Minister congratulated and wished all the women. He encouraged the women to work in a better way. On this occasion, Chief Minister Sai’s wife Kaushalya Sai was also present.

It is noteworthy that meaningful initiatives are being taken to increase the income of self-help group women of Jashpur district by giving them employment. Bijli Sakhi Yojana is being implemented under the pilot project with the joint efforts of the district administration and Janpad Panchayat Bagicha. Women have been trained under Bijli Sakhi. Due to lack of meter readers with the electricity department, regular reading of electricity meters of consumers is not done. Due to this, consumers have to pay more electricity bills at once. The district administration has made women of self-help groups Bijli Sakhi by training them in meter reading. Meter reading will be done regularly by Bijli Sakhi. With this initiative, electricity consumers will get regular electricity bills, so that they will be able to pay less bills.

Also, for taking meter readings in a house, Bijli Sakhi will be paid Rs. 12 by the electricity department. This will provide employment to the women of the group and they will have regular income. This will also increase the number of Lakhpati Didi in the district area as Bijli Sakhi. Under the pilot project in Jashpur, 21 women have been made Bijli Sakhi. A target has been set to make 300 women Bijli Sakhi in the district.
