Technology: Microsoft is set to launch a groundbreaking feature in November that will allow customers to create autonomous AI agents. The new initiative aims to take advantage of the fast-moving technology of artificial intelligence, amid growing investor excitement about the company’s substantial investments in the field. Unlike traditional chatbots, these autonomous agents require minimal human intervention and are designed to function as “AI-powered applications.” They can efficiently handle customer inquiries, pinpoint sales opportunities and oversee inventory management.
Industry giants including Salesforce are recognizing the enormous potential of these AI agents. Analysts believe they represent a more straightforward way to monetize the billions pouring into AI development. Starting next month, customers will have access to Copilot Studio, a user-friendly application that facilitates the creation of these agents even with minimal coding skills. Microsoft also plans to offer ten pre-built agents tailored for common tasks. These include managing supply chains, tracking expenses, and connecting with customers. Early users such as McKinsey & Company have demonstrated the capabilities of an AI agent that seamlessly manages customer requests by analyzing conversation history and scheduling follow-ups.
