Ludhiana: 2 farmers and seller arrested with 13 kg marijuana
Ludhiana: Ludhiana police have arrested two farmers and a vegetable vendor and claimed to have seized 13 kg of ganja from their possession. The suspects have been identified as Ajit Singh (35), Direndra Singh (42) and Bhunwar Pasi (62), residents of Bihar. Ajit and Direndra are farmers, while Bhunwar is a vegetable vendor. Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Detective Pawanjeet said in a statement that CIA-2 in-charge inspector Rajesh Sharma along with the police team was patrolling on Tajpur Road to keep an eye on smugglers and anti-social elements. They had received information about the suspects who are involved in the business of narcotics and they are supplying ganja to their customers in the area. According to the information, they had boarded the train from Bihar and reached Ludhiana to deliver a huge quantity of ganja to their customers. The ACP said that after reaching Ludhiana, the suspects moved towards Chandigarh Road, where they were waiting for their customers outside a school. The police raided and arrested the three suspects. 13 kg of ganja was recovered from the trio. A case has been registered under the NDPS Act. Ajeet has a criminal history, a case of drug smuggling was registered against him by the Ludhiana police in 2021. After coming out on bail in the case, he started drug smuggling again with his accomplices, Pawanjit said. He said police remand of the suspects will be sought from the court so that the entire drug supply line can be busted and the big drug suppliers involved in the drug racket can be caught.
