Phillaur: Truck hits pedestrians, child and mother die

Punjab: A speeding truck hit a mother and her son while they were walking on the roadside near Shamshabad on Wednesday night, killing them, police said on Thursday. According to officials, the victims have been identified as Gurpreet Kaur (26) and her two-year-old son, who were hit by the truck as the driver lost control over the vehicle. They died on the spot. The truck driver fled from the spot soon after the accident, they said. Efforts are being made to trace the driver and a case has been registered, police said.
