Lawrence’s body should be kept in the medical college itself: Kerala High Court

Kerala: High Court orders to keep the body of late senior CPM leader M.M. Lawrence in medical college. Daughter Asha Lawrence approached the High Court against handing over the body to the medical college. The High Court ordered the medical college to keep the body in the mortuary till a final decision is taken after hearing the daughter’s side and the medical college can take a final decision as per the Anatomy Act.

When the Court asked if there were any documents to be handed over to the medical college, the son’s reply was that there were no documents and he had only told the relatives. Affidavits prepared by the two children have been submitted to the Superintendent of the Medical College. The Court said that the complaint of daughter Asha should also be considered and advised to keep it in the medical college till a decision is taken.
