Tata Power installs rooftop solar systems at 600 locations

Business Business: Work to install rooftop solar power systems in the state under the ‘Solar Gagar with Tata Power’ initiative began in mid-this year, but the official inauguration took place only when the state CEO announced the launch, the official said. Praveer Sinha, CEO and CEO of Tata Power, and Dr. Dipesh Nanda, CEO of TPREL, did so this week. Aiming to provide clean energy to every household in the state, the initiative is based on the commitment to promote sustainable energy solutions across India, he said. Chhattisgarh is an important hub for TPSSL’s activities and initiatives with a portfolio of over 600 installations with a capacity of over 250 MW across residential, commercial, industrial and direct projects, he said.

The programme will cover all 33 districts of the state, he said. He said that under the Prime Minister’s proposed Surya Ghar Yojana, residents can get central government subsidies of Rs 30,000 for 1 kW systems, Rs 60,000 for 2 kW systems and Rs 78,000 for 3-10 kW systems. He said these subsidies are aimed at making solar power more accessible and affordable so that all households can switch to renewable energy without financial burden. Tata Power Solar Systems Ltd (TPSSL) has installed rooftop solar power systems at over 600 locations in Chhattisgarh under this initiative, company officials said on Sunday. The company, a subsidiary of Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL), is said to be planning to install rooftop solar power systems in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Kerala after its success.
