Theft after coming to Raipur from Orissa, gang exposed

Raipur. Police has revealed the theft case. Suman Tiwari lodged a report in DD Nagar police station that she lives in Vipra Nagar Agroha Colony Raipura. On 27.08.2024, at around 04.00 pm, she locked the house and went to her maternal home in Changorabhata and during that time no one was at home. When the applicant returned home on 29.08.24 at around 06.00 pm, she saw that the main gate was locked and the lock of the room inside was broken and the gold and silver jewellery and cash kept in the cupboard inside the room was missing. Some unknown thief broke the lock of the door inside the applicant’s room, entered the house, broke the locker of the cupboard and stole the said goods kept in it and fled. On which, crime number 346/24 under section 331(4), 305(A) BNS was registered against the unknown accused in DD Nagar police station.

On which, under the direction of senior officers, a joint team of Anti Crime and Cyber ​​Unit and DD Nagar police station started to trace the unknown accused by conducting detailed inquiries from the applicant and the people around the incident. The team members inspected the crime scene as well as observed the footage of CCTV cameras installed at the crime scene and its surroundings. Along with doing technical analysis regarding the unknown accused, informers were also deployed. The team members also verified the old and recently released accused of theft on the basis of modus operandi and kept a constant watch on their activities, and every possible effort was being made to trace the unknown accused by focusing on the outside gangs of thieves.

Through technical analysis and other means, the accused were identified as outside gangs of Raigarha, Odisha and one of the accused involved in the case was identified as Rabishankar Mahanandia, resident of Raigarha, Odisha. On which, under the direction of senior officers, a joint team of Anti Crime and Cyber ​​Unit and DD Nagar Police Station was sent to Raigarha, Odisha. Team A members reached Raigarha, Odisha and were continuously camping and searching for the accused. During this time, the accused Rabishankar Mahanandia was caught by the team members after searching. On strict interrogation regarding the incident, he told that he had carried out the theft along with his other two companions Bijju and P. Srikant and also told that he had mortgaged half of the gold and silver jewellery in Muthoot Finance, kept some gold and silver jewellery in the house of his companion K. Anil Kumar and kept the remaining jewellery with himself. On which the team members have recovered the jewellery from Muthoot Finance.

During interrogation, the accused told that they had come to Raipur a few days before the incident and had done recce to carry out the theft in different areas of the city, after which on the date of the incident, after getting the opportunity, they carried out the theft and fled to Raigarha, Odisha.

On which the team members also traced and caught the accused P. Srikant and K. Anil Kumar involved in the case and accused K. Anil Kumar has been arrested under section 317(2) B.N.S.

The three accused were arrested and on their information, stolen gold and silver jewellery, total cash amount and 03 mobiles used in the incident worth about Rs 5,60,000/- were seized from their possession and action was taken against the accused.

The accused Bijju involved in the case is absconding, every possible effort is being made to trace and arrest him.

All the three accused have been imprisoned in more than half a dozen cases of theft/burglary registered against them in Raigarha, Odisha.
