Panchkula: 3 children died due to collapse of brick kiln wall
Chandigarh: Three children aged two, five and nine years were killed today when a brick wall collapsed at a brick-kiln in Jaspur village in Raipur Rani, 35 km from Panchkula. The deceased were identified as Rafia (9), Nishad (5) and Zeeshan (2). The children were rushed to the Community Health Centre (CHC), Raipur Rani, where doctors declared two of them dead, while the third one died during treatment. The incident took place around 11 am at the Kamla brick-kiln where four children were playing while their parents were working at the site. Ram Prasad, a brick-kiln worker and a native of Aligarh in UP, said the children were playing when the wall collapsed on them.
Three of them were seriously injured, while the fourth one suffered minor injuries. “We rushed all of them to CHC, Raipur Rani,” he said. Nawab, father of Nishad and Zeeshan, said they were working at the site when suddenly the wall collapsed on the four children. He said, “One of them was treated at the CHC.” Dr. Gaurav Prajapati of the CHC said, “Of the three injured children brought to the hospital, two, Rafia and Zeeshan, had already died. The five-year-old child had suffered serious injuries. Mucus and blood had accumulated in his windpipe. The child died during treatment.” The bodies were brought to the Civil Hospital in Sector 6 for postmortem. Later, the bodies were handed over to the relatives.
