Requesting approval for the proposed second line of Haridaspur-Paradip railway line, BJP national vice-president and Kendrapara MP Baijayant Panda wrote a letter to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.

In his letter, Panda said that with his regular follow-up and ground level review with the concerned ministry, this project, delayed for decades, was finally approved, commissioned and completed in 2019. Mentioning the capacity and capability enhancement of the second line of Haridaspur-Paradip railway line, the MP said this line being the first railway line in the coastal district of Kendrapara, has brought about a significant change in the region. He further mentioned that the proposed second line will not only go a long way in increasing the overall capacity but will also dramatically improve the potential for development of the region, including the industrial corridor envisaged in this part of Odisha. “Since the original project was implemented by Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), it would perhaps be prudent to engage them again for this extension to leverage their domain and specific knowledge for faster execution. I am confident that the Ministry of Railways under your leadership will give due consideration to sanctioning this important project. I look forward to your positive response and assure you of my continued support for the development of this project,” his letter reads.
