Kolkata: Singer Shreya Ghoshal has also joined the campaign to get justice for the victim after the rape and murder of a junior doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Hospital. Famous singer Shreya Ghoshal has announced the cancellation of her live music concert to be held in Kolkata in September. She gave this information on Saturday.

Shreya Ghoshal issued a statement on her official Facebook page and said, “The live music concert to be held in Kolkata on September 14 has been rescheduled for October.” She said, “I am deeply hurt by the heinous incident that happened in Kolkata recently. Being a woman, it is unimaginable to even think about the cruelty that happened to her and it gives me goosebumps.”

According to Shreya Ghoshal, everyone was eagerly waiting for this concert. But, it was very important for her to take a united stand on this issue and stand with the protesters. She said in the statement, “I pray for the respect and safety of women in this world and our country. I hope my friends and fans will accept and understand our decision to go ahead with this concert.” It is known that, already many community Durga Puja organizers in West Bengal have refused to take the annual donation of the state government for the upcoming Durga Puja festival. Not only this, a theater group in Malda district of West Bengal has also returned the donation check received from the state government for organizing the Theater Fair. Meanwhile, protests by junior doctors are continuing in different government hospitals of West Bengal. They are demanding strict punishment for the culprit in the rape and murder case.
