Chandigarh: Teachers’ march to Governor’s House fails
Chandigarh: Hundreds of teachers led by Joint Teachers Association (JTA) today took out a protest march towards Punjab Raj Bhawan demanding resolution of their eight demands. The protesting teachers had gathered in Sector 20 for the march but were stopped midway by Chandigarh police personnel.
Addressing the marchers, JTA Convenor Dr Ramesh Chand Sharma said the union has sought resolution of its demands, which include implementation of 7th Pay Commission for teachers working under Samagra Shiksha, 12 per cent pending dearness allowance to teachers working on deputation. JTA President Ranbir Jhorad said, “JTA urges the administration to implement the demands with immediate effect. If this does not happen, they will continue the agitation.”
