Phagwara: Cash and LED stolen from school

Phagwara: The police have booked unidentified persons for stealing cash from a government school in village Rampur near Nakodar. Kiran Pal Kaur of Chak Fateh Pur village in Bathinda complained to the police that she was working as an ETT teacher at Government Primary School in Rampur village. She locked the school after 2 pm on August 9 and went to her parental village. Kiran Pal said she opened the school on the morning of August 12 and found an LED missing from her office and Rs 500 stolen from her almirah.

Two booked for culpable homicide

Phagwara: The police have booked two residents on charges of culpable homicide and criminal conspiracy. The accused have been identified as Arun Sahota and Major of Indra Colony, Guru Teg Bahadur Nagar, Nakodar. Chaman Lal, a resident of the same locality, complained to the police that the accused administered some poisonous substance to his son in July which killed him. His body was found lying on Sharak Pur Road near Guru Nanak Nation College on July 30. A case has been registered .

Villager hurt in assault

Phagwara: A villager was attacked and wounded by two assailants in Mehtan near Phagwara on Monday night. The victim Joga Singh was admitted to the Civil Hospital. The assailants Harjinder Singh and Jaspal Singh of village Mehatan entered the premises of the victim and attacked him with iron rod and bricks. The assailants escaped after committing the crime. Personal enmity was said to be the cause of attack, police said. A case has been registered.

2 women drug peddlers held

Phagwara: The Goraya police have arrested two women ‘drug peddlers’ on the charge of selling heroin. SHO Rakesh Kumar said 5 gram of heroin was recovered from the accused Kamla and Jagiro, both residents of Mohalla Langarhia, Goraya. The SHO said a case has been registered against the accused.

2 brothers die in accident

Hoshiarpur: Two brothers were killed in a road accident at Adda Bhunga late on Monday night, while the son of one of the deceased was seriously injured. Jinda of Chautala had returned from the Chintpurni fair. He called his son Sandeep Kumar and brother Mangal to Adda Bhunga to take him back home. When they started going to the village on a motorcycle, they were hit by a vehicle in whichboth brothers died while Sandeep was seriosuly injured.

Man held for shop burglary

Phagwara: The police have arrested a person for theft who had been absconding since February. Amarjit Singh of Fajalpur village had complained to the police that the accused and their accomplices barged into his shop on January 29 night and decamped with a welding set. A case was registered.
