8 people died in Mahanadi boat accident

Raigarh. 8 people died after a boat capsized at Shardha Mahanadi Ghat in Rengali police station area of Odisha, bordering Raigarh district. The body of a woman, Radhika Nishad, was recovered on Friday itself, while the bodies of the remaining 7 people were recovered on Saturday. The 8th body of Ghasneen Rathiya has been taken out. Rescue and search operation was carried out in Mahanadi since Saturday morning. A team of scuba divers who arrived from Bhubaneswar along with the divers was engaged in the search.

Meanwhile, at around 8.20 am, the body of 7 year old Piku Rathiya, resident of Anjoripali, Block Kharsia, was recovered. After this the divers recovered two more bodies. In which bodies of a woman Radhika Rathiya and a child Naveen Rathiya were also found. Apart from this, bodies of Lakshmi Rathiya, Kunal Rathiya, Terasbai Rathiya were also found. At the same time, 50 villagers who remained safe have been sent to their village by bus. Former Sarpanch of Kotarlia, Minketan Pradhan told that about 50 people had come from Kharsia to the house of Gangaram Lohar, resident of village Kotarlia, Raigarh. From where everyone was going to worship at Shardha Patharseni temple by pickup, marshal and car.
