51 Naxalites, including 9 women, surrender in Bijapur

Bijapur. Police in the district have achieved a major success. Influenced by the government’s landmark “Poona Nargam” scheme and Naxalite rehabilitation policy, a total of 51 Naxalites, including a PPCM from Company No. 01 and a Naxalite carrying a bounty of 8 lakh rupees, have surrendered to the police. Among those who surrendered were 20 Naxalites carrying a total bounty of 6.6 lakh rupees.

All the surrendered Maoists were involved in various incidents, including firing, IED blasts, and arson. The surrender took place at the Bijapur Police Lines, where CRPF DIG B.S. Negi, Superintendent of Police Dr. Jitendra Yadav, Additional Superintendent of Police Ulandan York, DSP Sharad Jaiswal, Deputy Superintendent of Police Vineet Sahu, and other officers were present.

Police officials provided cash incentives of 50,000 rupees each to the surrendered Naxalites and encouraged them to join the mainstream. According to reports, a total of 461 Maoists have surrendered, while 485 have been arrested so far in 2025. Additionally, 138 Maoists have been killed in various encounters.
