5 accused arrested with remains of wild animals, car also seized
Bilaspur. The joint team of Forest Division Bilaspur and Achanakmar Tiger Reserve has arrested five accused who were roaming around selling pangolin skin, bone and leopard teeth. All the accused have been sent to jail on the orders of the court.
The forest department got the news that some people were waiting near CV Raman University in Kota with skins and bones of wild animals and were waiting for the customer. A joint team of the forest department arrived and took into custody five accused, Aman Karikant, Ramesh Katlam, Bharat Dhruv, Riku Maravi and Ankit Jogansh of Khudia and Chachedi villages of Mungeli district, traveling in an Artika car. Pangolin skin, teeth and bones and leopard teeth were found from them, which were confiscated.
The accused told that they had hunted the leopard 6 months ago and buried it on the ground. Just brought it for sale. The Forest Department team has conducted excavations at Alamkhar at the place described by the accused, where the remains of the leopard were found. Rinku Maravi, one of the accused, was to get married on April 21. All the accused have been sent to jail.
