45.54 lakh metric tonnes of paddy purchased so far in the state

Raipur. In Chhattisgarh, the campaign to purchase paddy at support price in the Kharif marketing year 2023-24 is continuing from November 1, 2023. In about two months so far, 45 lakh 54 thousand metric tonnes of paddy has been purchased from 9 lakh 93 thousand registered farmers of the state. Keeping in mind the convenience of farmers, 2 thousand 739 paddy procurement centers have been created this year. So far, a total of Rs 11 thousand 032 crore has been released by Markfed to Apex Bank for payment to farmers in lieu of paddy purchase. Keeping in mind the convenience of the farmers, instructions have been given by the state government for easy purchase of paddy. It has been asked to strengthen all the necessary arrangements in paddy procurement centres. Food department officials have also been asked to continuously inspect the paddy procurement system.

The state government has set a target of purchasing 130 lakh metric tonnes of paddy from the farmers of the state this year. 26.86 lakh farmers of the state have registered to sell paddy in this Kharif marketing year. The total registered area in this is 33.22 lakh hectares, while 2.59 lakh new farmers have registered. It is noteworthy that like last year, this year too along with paddy procurement, the continuous lifting of paddy for custom milling is going on. Till now, out of total 45.54 lakh metric tonnes of paddy purchased, DO has been issued for lifting of 34.02 lakh metric tonnes of paddy, against which 25.76 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has been lifted by the millers. Food Department officials said that today on December 21, 2.60 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has been purchased from about 62 thousand farmers. More than 78 thousand tokens were issued for today’s paddy purchase. Of these, more than 30 thousand tokens were issued online under the Token Tunhar Haath app.
