37 Maoists surrender before DGP

The Maoist party has suffered another major setback. 37 Maoists surrendered before Telangana State DGP Shivdhar Reddy. The DGP said that three of them are state committee members Koyyala Sambayya alias Azad, Appasi Narayana alias Ramesh, and Somda alias Erra. The remaining 34 are from Chhattisgarh. It is understood that 25 of the surrendered Maoists are women.

The DGP said that among those who surrendered, there are three divisional committee members, 9 regional committee members and 22 force members. DGP Shivdhar Reddy said that a large amount of weapons have been seized from the surrendered Maoists. He said that 303 rifles, G3 rifles, AK 47s, SLRs and a large amount of bullets have been handed over. He said that the surrendered Maoists will be given a cash reward and some other incentives.

The DGP said that there is a reward of Rs. 20 lakhs on Azad and Rs. 20 lakhs on Appasi Narayana. He said that there is a total reward of Rs. 1.41 crores on all the surrendered Maoists along with them. He said that this amount will be handed over to them. He said that the rehabilitation package being given to those from Telangana will be provided. There are 59 more Maoists from Telangana. He also called on them to surrender immediately. He said that among those who are in hiding, there are five central committee members, Muppalla Lakshman Rao alias Ganapathi, Malla Rajireddy alias Sangram, Tippiri Tirupati alias Devji, Paka Hanumanthu alias Ganesh, and Bade Chokka Rao alias Damodar. He said that there are up to 10 people in the state committee.
