3 Staff Suspended After Mobile Use at Parappana Agrahara Jail
Bengaluru: Parappana Agrahara Central Jail in Bengaluru, the capital of Karnataka, is once again in the news. The prisoners in that jail are using mobile phones and TV. Meanwhile, the video was recorded on March 27 by prisoners who had been in prison for more than two and a half years in a murder case. They shared it with people they knew outside. As a result, the video clip went viral on social media.
On the other hand, the prison authorities were alerted. They checked the prisoners’ rooms. They found mobile phones hidden in the underground pipeline area near the toilet block. They were seized. A case has been registered in this incident. Three prison wardens have been suspended on charges of negligence in the performance of their duties.
Meanwhile, the jail authorities said that they have been implementing strict measures for the last few months to curb illegal activities of prisoners in Parappana Agrahara Central Jail. However, they said that this video has come to light to undermine their efforts. They also revealed that they are investigating whether there is any internal conspiracy to tarnish the reputation of DGP (Prisons) Alok Kumar.
