3 day school holidays in Maharashtra due to elections?

Maharashtra: Voting for the assembly elections in the state will be held on November 20. Accordingly, the Education Department has directed the Education Commissioner to give necessary instructions to the school principals to decide to close the school if it is not possible to open the school on November 18, 19 and 20 due to the election duty of teachers. Assembly election fever is going on in the state. Teachers are largely involved in the functioning of the election process and the actual voting process. Also many polling stations are located in schools.

The election administration takes control of the schools to prepare for the voting. In this background, the Education Commissionerate had submitted a proposal to the Education Department to give holidays to schools on November 18, 19 and 20. Accordingly, Deputy Secretary of the Education Department Tushar Mahajan has given instructions to the Education Commissioner through a circular. It has been mentioned that for the smooth conduct of the Assembly General Elections 2024 in the state, where it is not possible to run the schools due to the election duty of teachers, a decision should be taken to close the schools by issuing necessary instructions from the Commissioner level to the principals of the concerned schools.
