3 arrested with 40 stolen cellphones

Sultanwind Police has busted a gang of thieves who used to enter people’s houses at night and loot. Police arrested three members of the gang and recovered 40 stolen mobile phones and gold jewelery from their possession.

The arrested people have been identified as Kuldeep Singh alias Deepu (20), resident of Pandori village, Akashdeep Singh (23) alias Kashi, resident of Sunder Nagar, Kapurthala and Simran Singh, currently living in Varpal village. alias Simu (30) is a resident of village Sultanwind.

Police claim that the arrested people used to commit theft in “Kala Kachha Gang” style. The accused used to enter houses between 2.30 and 3 am when people were sleeping in their homes. They managed to enter their houses through the roof and carry out the theft.
Police claimed that during interrogation the accused confessed that they had around 700 mobile phones stolen from different people. Police recovered 40 mobile phones of different companies and three pairs of gold earrings.

SI Jaspal Singh, SHO of Sultanwind police station, said that a police team led by ASI Ashwani Kumar caught the thieves and recovered 40 mobile phones and seven grams of gold. The police team was investigating a case registered at Sultanwind Police Station on March 19, in which complainant Lakhwinder Singh, resident of Bhai Manj Singh Road, Tarn Taran Road, Amritsar, had said that on the night of March 17 and 18, some unknown person broke into his house. Stole a mobile phone from.

During investigation, it was revealed that the accused – Kuldeep Singh, alias Deepu, Simran Singh, alias Simu, Akashdeep Singh, alias Kashi, and his fiancee and another of their associates Gopi – used to commit burglaries in houses. Police officials claimed that these accused together target a house and at around 2.30-3 am, when people are sleeping in their homes, they enter their houses and steal valuables. Accused Akashdeep Singh alias Kashi keeps an eye around the house while his associates enter inside.

During interrogation, the accused confessed that they had been committing thefts for the last two years and had stolen around 700 mobile phones and other items besides cash and jewellery.
Akashdeep Singh alias Kashi already has a case of theft registered in Kapurthala. Simran and Simu have four cases of theft and one case of NDPS Act registered in different police stations of the city.
