3 arrested for looting a jewelery shop in Delhi

New Delhi (IANS) | Three persons have been arrested for looting two kg of gold and Rs four lakh in cash at gunpoint from a jewelery shop in the national capital’s Nangloi village. The police gave this information on Friday. Outer Delhi DCP Harendra Kumar Singh said that the accused Paramjit, Nitesh and Abhishek were arrested from Mundka on Thursday. Singh said that about 2.59 grams of gold, Rs 30,000 in cash and guns were recovered from them.

Singh said ACP Arun Kumar Choudhary and Inspector Praveen Kumar received a tip-off following which a raid was conducted in Mundka area and the accused were arrested.

The accused Nitesh was also wanted in connection with the murder of a traffic police constable in Shahbad Dairy area. His associates Roshan and Rajat and Shabnam are absconding in this case.

A source said that the accused had taken a rented house in Laxmi Park. Shabnam went to the jewelery shop several times. He and another did Reiki.

According to the information, the incident took place on April 4 at around 1.30 pm. Shop owner Virender Verma told IANS that he along with his employees Jai Prakash Soni and Rahul were attending to customers when four masked men barged into the shop and threatened them at gunpoint.

Virendra Verma further said that he asked me to hand over all the valuables and started picking up the gold ornaments. One of his associates was standing at the entry gate. They took all the gold and went out. Soon after, one of them came inside again and took the bag kept in our locker. I tried to chase them, but they fired while fleeing from the spot.

The police have registered a case of dacoity and formed several teams. Police said that raids are being conducted to arrest the associates of the absconding accused.
