2.77 crore voters are eligible to vote in Kerala

The number of voters increased by 6.49 lakh compared to the last voter list released on January 22. While 2.01 lakh voters were removed from the rolls after verification, the number of young voters in the 18-19 age group increased to 5.34 lakh.
There are 1.34 crore male voters, 1.43 crore female voters and 367 voters in the transgender category in the voter list. The male-female ratio in the voter list was 1000:1068.
Among the districts, Malappuram has the highest number of voters at 33.93 lakh, while Wayanad has the lowest at 6.35 lakh. Thiruvananthapuram has the highest number of transgender voters (94).

There were 89,839 overseas voters in the state, with Kozhikode having the highest number of 35,793 voters. Of the total number of eligible voters, 6.27 lakh are in the age group of 80 years and above.
The final voter list was published on January 22 on the website of the CEO (Kerala) and was also made available at taluk and village offices and respective BLOs. Those who could not enroll in the final roll were given time till March 25 to do so.

As part of ‘purification’ of the electoral rolls, demographically and photographically similar entries were removed after verification by BLOs. Special teams were formed under the leadership of Assistant Returning Officers for verification of voter lists. BLOs visited voters’ homes, identified dead and permanently transferred voters before removing their names from the voter list.
