11 arrested for sale and purchase of newborn in Chatra, Jharkhand, child was sold for one lakh

Ranchi (IANS) | A total of 11 accused have been arrested by the police in connection with the sale of a newborn baby at Chatra Sadar Hospital in Jharkhand. The newborn baby that was sold has been recovered safely from Petarwar in Bokaro district. The mother of the newborn child is also among those arrested. Eight hours after the delivery, she sold her child for one lakh rupees at the behest of some health workers.

The police have recovered four mobiles and Rs 1.64 lakh in cash from the accused involved in the child-selling deal. Those arrested include Dimple Devi, Asha Devi, Malti Devi, Ramanand Kumar, residents of Sadar police station area of Chatra district, Anand Prakash Jaiswal alias Monu, Saroj Kumar, Chandan Kumar, Rajnikant Sao of Bokaro district, Upendra Kumar of Hazaribagh district. , Reena Devi, Saru Devi of Ramgarh district.

On Thursday, Chatra’s SDPO Avinash Kumar said that on March 21, Chatra DC Abu Imran received information that a woman had sold her newborn child just hours after delivery on March 18. He gave this information to Chatra SP. The SP constituted a special raiding team under the leadership of Chatra SDPO Avinash Kumar. This team recovered the child safely from Bokaro. At the same time, 11 accused involved in the incident were arrested. After this matter came to the fore, an FIR was registered at Sadar police station on the application of Dr. Manish Lal, Deputy Superintendent of Sadar Hospital.
