108 Ambulance Service: 18.07 lakh people benefited in one year

Tamil Nadu: Last year alone, more than 18.07 lakh people benefited from the emergency 108 ambulance service. It is reported that 2.94 lakh people received medical assistance during childbirth.

In Tamil Nadu, the 108 ambulance service is operated by EMRI Green Health Services. A total of 1,353 ambulances operate across the state.

Of these, 303 vehicles are equipped with life-saving medical facilities. Additionally, more than 40 two-wheeled ambulances operate to travel in hilly and rough terrain.

More than 7,000 employees work there. Reports indicate that the control room receives more than 10,000 calls daily.

Regarding the activities of the 108 Ambulance Service across Tamil Nadu last year, State President Selvakumar and Regional President Mohammed Bilal said: As for the 108 service, infrastructure has been created in several districts, including Chennai, to provide ambulance assistance within seven minutes of a call.

For this purpose, ambulances are kept ready at accident-prone areas, key locations, and intersections. Last year, 18.07 lakh people benefited from the 108

ambulance service. Of these, 2.94 lakh vehicles were used solely for delivery services. Additionally, 3.42 lakh people involved in road accidents were rescued and hospitalized.

Similarly, over 100,000 heart and lung patients benefited from the 108 service. Last year, 125 deliveries were made in ambulances. They stated that they are continuously ensuring that ambulance service is available without delay in emergencies.
