1,000 mini buses; ‘AI’ specialist centre for Rs 10,000 crore

Tamil Nadu: The DMK has made promises, including introducing 1,000 new minibuses in the Chennai Metropolitan Area alone and establishing a global artificial intelligence (AI) center at a cost of ₹10,000 crore.
Chief Minister M.K. Stalin released a special election promise for the capital city, titled “Chennai Soup-6,” at Anna Arivalayam on Sunday. DMK Organizing Secretary R.S. Bharathi received it.
The statement reads: Public amenities in Urban Habitat Development Board apartments will be improved with government funding through the Residents Welfare Women’s Association.
Areas without a Metro drinking water connection will be provided with R.O. purified drinking water. Households with Metro drinking water connections will receive regular drinking water supply.
Brighter streetlights will be installed in all residential areas. A unique world-class cultural center will be built for art, music, and literary events. 1,000 new minibuses will be introduced to connect every street to bus stops, metro stations, and railway stations. Artificial intelligence-driven traffic management will be implemented to reduce traffic congestion and reduce travel time by 25 percent.
More than 10 major projects, such as the Chennai Border Road Project from Ennore to Pooncherry, will be completed by 2027. Metro extension work and stormwater drainage will be completed by 2028. The underground sewerage project will be completed by 2027.
By 2029, world-class road infrastructure will be built, with beautiful roads, wide sidewalks, shady trees, and easily accessible restrooms. Under the Animal Birth Control Program, the number of veterinarians and dog catchers will be tripled. Large dog shelters will be built in collaboration with NGOs.
A Global Center of Excellence will be established for artificial intelligence animation, visual effects, gaming, and immersive technology, with an investment of ₹100 crore. An investment of ₹10,000 crore will be made, creating 20,000 high-paying jobs.
The election promise for Chennai is to create world-class infrastructure, high-quality skill development training, research centers, and high-income employment opportunities. DMK officials and candidates were present at the event.
