10 arrested for crime in Phagwara

Phagwara: Police have arrested 10 suspects involved in different criminal activities in Phagwara and adjoining areas. This was confirmed by Kapurthala Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Vatsala Gupta on Saturday. In the first case, police arrested three miscreants under sections 333,115(2), 191(3) and 190 of BNS for attacking and injuring a family near industrial area on August 15 night in Phagwara. The arrested suspects have been identified as Rashpal Singh alias Kala, resident of Phillaur and Sukhjinder alias Raju and Sunny, both residents of Mehatpur, while their 11 accomplices managed to escape.
The SSP said the victim Prem Chand, a resident of Chachoki, told police that Rashpal had an evil eye on his younger daughter and often followed her. He said more than 12 armed bike-borne assailants barged into his house and attacked his family. The victim said that when he raised an alarm, the accused managed to escape. The injured Prem Chand was admitted to the local civil hospital.

In the second incident, police arrested two suspects and registered a case against them under sections 379, 457, 380 and 379B of the Indian Justice Code for their involvement in different crimes. The arrested suspects were identified as Avinash Mishra, a resident of Govindpura and Karan Patel, a resident of Basant Nagar, Phagwara. In the third case, police arrested a vehicle thief on Friday night and recovered a stolen car bearing number PB-8BT-8014 and three stolen mobile phones from his possession. The arrested suspect was identified as Sukhwinder Kumar alias Honey, a resident of Kanshi Nagar, Phagwara.

In the fourth incident, police arrested three persons and recovered a pistol, six live cartridges and a Maruti Zen car bearing number PB-06D-5788 from their possession and registered a case against them under the Arms Act. The arrested suspects have been identified as Omkar Singh alias Golu and Prince, residents of Pandwan village and Inderjeet, a resident of Chandpur village in Jalandhar district. In the fifth case, police arrested a drug peddler on Friday night and recovered 4 grams of heroin from him. The arrested suspect has been identified as Sulindra Kumar, a resident of Dhaliwal village.
